Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamad Zaharuddin Zakaria was appointed as Shariah Committee member since 1 June 2016 and later has been appointed as Chairman of Shariah Committee since 1 June 2020.
He is currently a Senior Lecturer at Faculty of Shariah and Law, Islamic Science University Malaysia (USIM) and also served as Coordinator for Centre of Awqaf and Zakat, USIM. He obtained his first degree in Shariah and Judiciary from USIM, Master of Shariah Judiciary from University of Jordan and PhD in Fiqh and Usul Al-Fiqh (Shariah) from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). His areas of interest are Fiqh Muamalat, Islamic Banking and Finance, Islamic Capital Market, Islamic Wealth Management, Islamic Legal Maxims and Islamic Jurisprudence. He has published several articles on Islamic law of contract, Islamic Capital Market, and actively involved in numerous research projects in his academic institution (USIM).
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamaruzaman Noordin was appointed as Shariah Committee member since 1 January 2021 and later appointed as the Deputy Chairman of Shariah Committee since 1 January 2023. Concurrently, he is also the member of the Board, a role he has since 2 January 2024.
He obtained a PhD in Islamic Studies from the University of Wales, United Kingdom. He has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) along with a First Class Honours in Bachelor in Shariah from the University of Malaya.
Currently, he holds the position of Deputy Dean of Value Creation and Enterprise and is an Associate Professor of the Department of Shariah and Management of the University of Malaya.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamaruzaman also holds other roles serving as the Chairman of Shariah Committee of Affin Islamic Bank, Member of Shariah Committee TEKUN Nasional, Member of Shariah Committee PruBSN Takaful, Member of the Shariah Advisory Committee of Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and the Registered Shariah Adviser of Securities Commission Malaysia.
Previously, he was the Chairman and member of Shariah Advisory Committee for Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad (2012-2020).
Dr. Asma Hakimah Ab Halim was appointed as Shariah Committee member since 1 January 2019.
She is currently a senior lecturer at Faculty of Law, Universiti Kebangsaaan Malaysia (UKM) since 2007. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and LL.B (Shariah) from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Certificate in Company Administration Programme (CiCA) from the same university in 2002. She then pursued her Master in Laws (LL.M) in UKM in 2006 and then obtained her PhD from Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) in 2015. Dr. Asma Hakimah has published several articles on Islamic Law of contract, Islamic Banking and actively involved in numerous research projects in her academic institution.
Dr. Razli Ramli was appointed as Shariah Committee member since 1 January 2021.
He is currently a Senior Lecturer at Azman Hashim International Business School (AHIBS), Universiti Teknologi Maklumat. He holds a PhD in Management from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and possesses a Bachelor in Economics from The Flinders University of South Australia. He brings with him over 25 years of experience in banking and finance including 18 years in the field of Islamic finance and he is also a member of the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM).
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Fairooz Abdul Khir was appointed as Shariah Committee member since 1 January 2023.
He has a Bachelor in Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences with specialization in fiqh from International Islamic University Malaysia. He also obtained Masters of Shariah and PhD from the University of Malaya. He is currently a Director at Centre of Excellence Islamic Social Finance, INCEIF University. He also serves as member of Shariah Advisory Council (SAC) of Securities Commission Malaysia, Chairman of Board Shariah Committee of CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad and Chairman of the Shariah Committee of Zurich Takaful Malaysia Berhad (ZTMB). He is also a registered Shariah adviser with Securities Commission, Malaysia for the Islamic Unit Trust Schemes and Islamic Securities (Sukuk).
